Featured Commission
CIB Smart Village
Office · Smart Village, Egypt
Located within the prominent Smart Village in Giza, Egypt, the CIB (Commercial International Bank) headquarters establishes a monumental and highly structured corporate presence. The architectural massing is characterized by broad, symmetrical wings flanking a deeply recessed central entrance bay, which is prominently marked by the institution's blue logo. A defining element of the structure is its massive, flat overhanging roof canopy, which visually unifies the expansive building while casting deep, protective shadows over the exterior. At the ground level, a sweeping, landscaped plaza featuring wide reflective water pools enhances the grandeur of the approach, mirroring the building's striking geometry. The building's facade is defined by a rigorous, systematic grid designed to balance transparency with climatic control. An intricate brise-soleil system, composed of tightly spaced dark vertical fins and solid horizontal bands, wraps the exterior. This layered envelope acts as an effective passive shading strategy for the expansive glass curtain walls situated behind it, mitigating solar heat gain while maintaining a rhythmic, ordered aesthetic suitable for a major financial institution. During the evening, the high degree of glazing allows internal light to spill outward, emphasizing the structural lightness of the core and transforming the headquarters into a glowing, transparent beacon.
